Newtown Councillor Graham Wilson and Councillor Miss Lindsay Wilson have crossed the floor from the Liberal Democrats and will campaign in Newtown this spring under the Conservative banner
Cllr Graham Wilson: “My passion has always been to serve the needs of Newtown and Poole, but in recent years this has become progressively more difficult due to the politicisation of the debates in Council. To score political points the Lib Dem group have opposed many good measures, such as affordable housing in Merley, better day care facilities for our elderly and vulnerable people, and many more. Nationally they have added little to the Coalition and opposed sensible measures to balance the budget.
So my daughter Lindsay and I have decided to leave the Lib Dem group and join the Conservative group on Poole Council, who are now more closely aligned to our political ideals and the needs of Newtown and Poole.
I will still be available to do all I can for the residents of Newtown and will continue to campaign on your behalf.”
Experienced Newtown campaigner Malcolm Farrell joins the Newtown Conservative team.
Malcolm aims to ensure that Newtown residents get the best possible service from Poole Council to meet their needs.
