Many people ask me how I see the future of the Eurozone. It has become the focus of much attention in the last few months and still there is no end in sight.
The recent agreement on the Greek bailout has taken far too long to arrange and is highly unlikely to be the final chapter in this sorry saga.
I cannot see a happy ending to this crisis for a club which has broken its own rules far too many times. A full currency union requires fiscal and political integration which most Member States of the EU simply cannot comprehend.
We need reform in Europe and above all we need growth; growth in GDP and growth in jobs. We can free up and enhance our single market, particularly in services, without any future economic integration.
Currently I am involved in two of the pivotal policy issues under review in the Parliament, reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). Please get in touch via my website www.juliegirling.com and let me know if you have any views you want me to consider.
In June, I will be hosting a conference for Dorset SMEs – if you’re interested in attending, get in touch!
I am working to stop EU red tape, stop EU interference and stop the wasteful and ridiculous monthly travelling circus to Strasbourg. Constituents can be assured I am committed to defending the interests of Dorset, the South West and the UK in the European Parliament.
