The newly refurbished Parkstone Conservative Club in Parr Street reopened last Saturday with a dazzling party. Among a packed room of club regulars and their consorts and guests together with Poole Councillors and their consorts, the Chief Executive and Conservative Party Treasurer at The Association of Conservative Clubs (ACC) Philip Smith CBE, upon whom The Queen has been graciously pleased to signify Her intention of conferring a Life Peerage, and his wife Emma were guests of honour at the occasion. The club now looks splendid with its new balcony out front for guests to sit and drink in the fresh air, and with the help of an energetic disc jockey manning the sound system a good time was had by all.
Conservative Oakdale ward Councillor Peter Adams assisted in the re-opening of the newly refurbished club and said: “I am delighted to see how rapidly the club was repaired and improved following the disastrous flood in June this year. This was a result of the team work of the club members and the skills of the appointed contractors. My wife and I have been members of this club for many years and the improvements made will ensure it has a prosperous future in the Parkstone community. The new outside dining area and the bar restaurant with the excellent affordable food on offer provides a friendly value for money venue in the heart of the bustling area of Ashley Cross. Any new members can be assured of a friendly welcome and a wide range of activities from line dancing to playing football and snooker.”
